Dear Sir, The Progress status page under PROJECT (http://kmrc.in/progress_staus.php) is very technical due to abbreviations used. As of now only KMRC employees can understand the progress. For common public to understand please expand the abbreaviations for the graph. Regards Saugata Das

All Stations in the East-West Metro would have the Platform Screen Door. Which would make the track in accessable.

DR A. K. NATH

The Principal Secretary, KMRC, GoWB/ Sir Sub: Sustainable Transport Planning at Newtown with E- W Metro We are very happy for your artistic vision for developing Newtown as one of the modern city of india. Kolkata is still known as dirty city of India. But; we believe that, this will soon be proved wrong. New township at Newtown expected to be the most artistically planned sustainable city to suit cultural heritage of Bengal-India. We hope, renowned investors while visiting Newtown will praise the developmental plan prepared by HIDCO Authority. Newtown will prove that Kolkata also have good taste like other cities and Newtown’s systematic planning can convert graveyard into paradise. 2. But regarding transport planning for metro, kindly note that, metro will evacuate most of the commuters visiting Newtown at either action area I or Action area II. But as per final maps and metro planning of action area I, II , III & IV publish by HIDCO; Principal Secretary’s kind attention is solicited for examination of metro planning for making the transport planning more commuter friendly. It has been seen that action area III & IV has been grossly neglected while planning for metro route. Action area III is devoid of any transportation system, even no metro route has been planned for operation in future in spite of the fact that action area III has been planned for educational hub and IT park of Newtown. 3. It is fact that; locations around action area III has been neglected where many IT industries like Unitech IT park( 50 Acre), TCS( 40 Acre), DLF, Shapoorji Pallonji Infocity( 50 acre), Wipro( 50acre), Infosys(50 acre), Tata Cancer Hospital, Sankar Netralaya, IIT campus, Bengal Engineering & Science University, VECE, St. Xaviers College, IEM,Training Institute for DVC, VTI, Military Management Institute, Judicial Academy and other renowned organisations are coming up. Residential complex like Uniworld City( 100 acre) Rosdale( 16 Acre) are already there in action area III. One 4 lakh sq ft mall of Unitech within Uniworld City is coming up. Once these IT industries become operational it will be difficult for government to undertake metro construction. Hence to provide transport facility to brilliant students as well as employees of IT companies and other secondary organisation metro facility is very much essential. It is further proposed that proper planning be done do that the metro is available round the clock to assist employees of IT companies and students involved in higher studies and research. In this connection following proposal is suggested to incorporate in the above planning. Considering smart developmental plan, E-W Metro be extended from sector V to Bantolla as given below: Sector V Rabindra Tirtha  Unitech’s infospace/ Tata Cancer Hospital  IIT- Rajarhat/ St. Xavier’s College  SP Infocity Infosys/ Wipro Bhojerhat Bantolla Station Around Unitech IT( 50 Ac)/ Rabindra Tirtha= Unitech IT( 50 Acre) , DLF. RITES, Building Material Centre, Hindusthan Steel Construction Ltd., CFSL,NAFED,CRPF Head Q quarterEWS II, DPS, Nacrotic Central Bureau , Deptt. of Health & Family Welfare, Air force Naval, Green Field Housing, Solar Housing, Municipality office, WBIDFC Complexes, Bus Terminus etc Station Around IIT / Other Campus= IIT Campus, Military Management Institute, State Judicial Academy, WBSEDCL,VTI, TI for DVC, IEM, St. Xaviers College, BE College, HS School, BLC, Variable, Energy Cyclotran Centre, sports complex , Residencial complex of Unitech( 100 Acre), Rosdale ( 16.32 Acre), Housing plots & other Institutes etc. Station Around Shapoorji Pallonji Infocity = Shapoorji Pallonji Infocity( 50 Ac), NBCC, Revenue Intelegence, GAIL, NTPC, Kappel Land,Housing W. Dear Tapan, 1. Thank you for your suggestion. We will keep you notified about project progress which will usually be on monthly basis. However, there are important events which, we can do even sooner as and when they happen. In view of the largeness of the project it may be difficult to provide a weekly report on progress work. KMRCL team thanks you for your suggestion.
